At 66 years old it’s not often you see her showing any flesh below the bust and above her hemline.

But Helen Mirren flashed a little more than expected while on the set of her new film yesterday.

The legendary actress – who is starring as Alma Reville in the upcoming movie Hitchcock – revealed her midriff as she hurried around in Pasadena, California in between scenes.

Wearing a black and white skirt which fell below the knee with white slippers and a ginger wig for her role, the star looked relaxed as she sipped on a hot beverage in a paper cup.
However Mirren appeared to get too comfortable as she let a few buttons loose in the sunshine, causing her stomach to show.

Helen would have no problem accidentally displaying her tummy in a second outfit she wore.

Donning a burnt orange long-sleeve frock which fastened all the way up to her neck with a large pair of white gloves, she must have struggled to stay cool as she carried a handkerchief and handbag.

She glammed up with a slick of red lipstick and large gold earrings to play the part of the legendary British film director and producer Alfred Hitchcock’s wife.

The biographical movie which is now well underway, last week saw Sir Anthony Hopkins bearing more than a passing resemblance to his new role of Alfred Hitchcock when he seen in costume.

The 74-year-old was pictured wearing prosthetics on his face and substantial padding underneath his black suit, Hopkins looked the very essence of Hitchcock yesterday.

What a difference a few decades, a damehood and and an Oscar-winning turn as the Queen can make.

In a new interview, Dame Helen, 66, has spoken of her affection for the Royal family and her hope to see the Prince of Wales crowned king.

“At the time of the Silver Jubilee, I was a grumpy anti-monarchist. I didn’t celebrate any was appalled by the celebrations,” she said.

“In my idiocy I missed out. Actually a lot of the street parties people held looked great fun, so silly me. I feel completely differently now compared with that time.

“The reign of the Queen has provided amazing continuity in a time when that is so rare. I’ll celebrate the Diamond Jubilee in my heart and maybe raise a glass.”

She was once dubbed the bikini queen and is well known for her effortless glamourous look.

But Dame Helen Mirren looked a million miles away from her usual flawless style as she walked across the set of her new movie.

The 66-year-old was spotted on the set of Hitchcock, where she is playing the role of Alma Reville.

The former Prime Suspect star looked extremely dowdy in her costume as Alfred Hitchcock’s wife and closest confident, but she showed little resemblance to the bespectacled Alma.

Helen was sporting a light ginger colour wig and wore a large blue and purple scarf around her neck.

She was dressed in a grey cardigan which she teamed with a long grey skirt and a pale green blouse to complete the look.

Later in the day, Mirren was seen again in character wearing a blue head scarf and a white bathrobe with the initial A embroidered on it.

However, the Academy Award winner added some spice to the outfit by wearing it with a pair of leopard print pumps.

Alma Reville was an English assistant director and screenwriter and she met her husband while working with him at Paramount’s Famous Players-Lasky studio in London, in the 1920s.

She was born one day before Hitchcock and passed away at age 82, two years after the famous director died.

Sir Anthony Hopkins will play the title role and thanks to prosthetic make-up he appears to be the spitting image of the Birds and Psycho director.
